اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّهِ الَّذِي كَسَانِي هَذَا (الثَّوْبَ) وَرَزَقَنِيهِ مِنْ غَـيـْرِ حَوْلٍ مِنِّي وَلَا قُـوَّةٍ
Translation:
All Praise is for Allah who has clothed me with this garment and provided it for me, with no power or might from myself.
Transliteration:
Alhamdu lillahil-lathee kasanee hatha (ath-thawb) warazaqaneehi min ghayri hawlin minnee wala quwwah.
Importance of Dua Before Changing Clothes
One of Allah Ta’ala’s greatest gifts to us is clothing. It offers warmth, comfort, dignity, and beauty in addition to covering our bodies and preserving our modesty. We repeatedly experience this blessing each time we change our clothes—morning or evening, before going to bed, before leaving the house, or after coming home.
Unfortunately, we frequently forget to give thanks to Allah for this small but priceless favor because we change clothes so often. We learned beautiful duas from our beloved Nabi ﷺ that allow us to express our gratitude to Allah Ta’ala and earn reward and forgiveness.
Let us remember this Sunnah and make it part of our daily routine.
