اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَجْعَلُكَ فِي نُحُورِهِمْ وَنَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شُرُورِهِمْ
Dua For Protection From Enemies:
This powerful Islamic dua, “Allahumma inna naj‘aluka fi nuhoorihim wa na‘udhu bika min shuroorihim”, is a means of seeking Allah’s direct protection from the harm and evil intentions of enemies. By reciting it with sincerity, a believer places Allah as a shield between themselves and those who wish them harm. The dua not only provides safety but also strengthens faith, instills peace of mind, and reminds believers that true security comes from Allah alone, not from physical strength or worldly tactics. It is a beautiful example of tawakkul (complete reliance on Allah) in times of fear and danger.
Transliteration:
Allahumma inna naj‘aluka fi nuhoorihim wa na‘udhu bika min shuroorihim
Translation:
“O Allah! We place You before them, and we seek refuge in You from their evils.”
Meaning of the Dua:
This dua means that a believer hands over the matter completely to Allah and seeks His protection against the harm, plots, and evil intentions of enemies.
Tafseer (Explanation):
This dua reflects a deep level of trust, surrender, and reliance on Allah. The words “We place You before them” mean that the believer puts Allah as a shield between himself and his enemies. Instead of confronting harm with personal power, the believer hands the matter entirely over to Allah.
Scholars explain that this supplication is not a request for revenge or destruction, but a request for protection. It asks Allah to block the evil intentions, plots, and harm of enemies before they reach the believer.
The phrase “We seek refuge in You from their evils” shows that all forms of harm—physical, verbal, emotional, or hidden—are under Allah’s control. Nothing can harm a believer unless Allah allows it, and nothing can protect better than Allah Himself.
This dua also teaches tawakkul (complete dependence on Allah). It removes fear from the heart and replaces it with calmness and confidence, reminding the believer that Allah is Al-Qawiyy (The All-Powerful) and Al-Hafeez (The Protector).
In essence, true safety does not come from strength, numbers, or strategies, but from sincere faith and turning to Allah in times of danger.
Incident from the Life of the Prophet ﷺ :
This powerful supplication was recited by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ during times when there was fear of harm from enemies. Whenever the Prophet ﷺ faced threats, hostility, or danger, he turned to Allah with complete trust rather than relying on physical strength or weapons.
The Prophet ﷺ taught his companions that true protection comes only from Allah. By reciting this dua, a believer places Allah between himself and his enemies, trusting that Allah alone is sufficient as a protector and guardian.
This incident highlights the importance of tawakkul (complete reliance on Allah) in moments of fear and difficulty.
