اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ
Dua When Leaving the Masjid
When leaving the masjid, one should recite this beautiful dua. It reminds the believer that even after worship, our dependence on Allah continues in every aspect of life.
Translation:
“O Allah, I ask You for Your bounty.”
Transliteration:
Allahumma inni as’aluka min fadhlik
The Value of Sincerity and Mindfulness
Similar to fasting, these prayers foster gratitude, mindfulness, and sincerity. Whether we enter a place of worship or return to daily life, this dua reminds us of our constant connection with Allah.
Tafseer (Explanation)
In the Qur’an and Sunnah, “Fadl” refers to more than material wealth. It includes Allah’s generosity in the form of protection, ease, guidance, barakah, wisdom, and opportunities that strengthen our relationship with Him.
Sunnah POV
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would recite this dua when leaving the masjid, teaching the companions that remembrance of Allah should continue beyond acts of worship.
Researchers clarify that:
• Asking for rahmah (mercy) is recommended when entering the masjid.
• Asking for fadl (bounty) is recommended when leaving the masjid.
This balance reflects the beauty of Islam: mercy purifies the heart inside the masjid, while bounty supports the believer outside.
